Our favourite movie animals

Ahead of the release of aviary sensation H is for Hawk, we herded up our staff’s favourite movie mice, film foxes and every critter in between…

Screen Programme Producer Jack said: “Not to be dramatic or anything, but I would die for Jonesy the cat from Alien“.

Hattie, Public Programme Developer, chooses another iconic ginger cat: Cat in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Played by Orangey, who won a PATSY for his performance but was known for being a bit of a diva off-screen.

“We belong to nobody and nobody belongs to us. We don’t even belong to each other”.

Cinema Customer Service Assistant Joel’s favourite is the one and only Spider-Pig from my most religiously re-watched film ever: The Simpsons Movie.

Screen Programme Manager Bex said: “My pick has to be Milo from The Mask. Anyone who is that loyal to his owner is a winner in my eyes.”

Marketing Manager Cathy votes for legend, icon and star Jenny the Donkey from Banshees of Inisherin. Everyone needs an emotional support donkey to take to the pub.

“What’s that, Jenny? Will we go to the pub for ourselves? We will. Come on.”

Senior Press Officer Alice voted for any of the rodents from Flushed Away, but with a special shoutout to Spike and Whitey specifically. She said the film “evokes a patriotism and 2000s nostalgia in me that nothing else can”.

Web Content Manager Harriet chooses mischievous Mij the otter from Ring of Bright Water – despite the upset her sticky end caused to many a young viewer.

Cinema Manager Tom said: “The one and only Fantastic Mr Fox himself”.

Visitor Insight Manager Vicky is a fan of Figaro from Pinocchio. The cutest cat ever committed to film, emanating so much emotion and sass without saying a word!

Marketing and Comms Trainee Tobi said: “I think Skipper from Madagascar is the only right answer. So good they got their own spin-off”.

And finally, our Cinema Marketing Officer, Tom, picks Ulysses from Inside Llewyn Davis – a perfect foil for the Coen Brothers’ mopey hero who really ties the film together.
