Prepare to explore space this February half term

Explore our stellar activities and shows coming to community venues, shopping centres and City Library next week. The fun will be out of this world!

Step inside the giant inflatable planetarium and discover the universe like you’ve never seen it before. The planetarium will be touring Bradford, popping up in SHINE West Bowling on Monday 12 February, the Thornbury Centre on Tuesday, and The Broadway shopping centre on Thursday.

Author Kate Pankurst alongside a copy of her book, We Are All Astronauts

In City Library on Thursday and Friday, join best-selling author and illustrator Kate Pankhurst for storytelling and drawing sessions and discover what it takes to become a space explorer. No space suit required!

The Bouncing Astronauts in action

On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday look out for bouncing astronauts on a mission – can you spot them in Oastler, The Broadway and Kirkgate shopping centres? When you do, come say hello and take a photo with them.

Across the whole week, there will be plenty of opportunity to get hands-on! Build your own videogame level with Impact Gamers, make glow-in-the-dark alien brains or learn about the phases of the moon with Sponge Tree, and send your message to the moon with 50 Things to Do. Venues on Monday and Tuesday will also have a play space and activities for some of our littlest visitors.

Get inspired by the story of Helen Sharman, the first British astronaut in space, told by Heifer Productions. She used her excellent observation skills to learn about planet Earth—can you do the same?

Visit The Cosmos Corner, where you can navigate your own interactive space simulation and marvel at their LEGO spacecraft collection.

Explainers demonstrating with fire during a Space Show

Our Explainers are running many stations where you can try your hand at creating sound effects or making colourful rockets and spinning galaxies. Catch one of our Exploring Space shows on Wednesday to discover amazing facts about far away planets!

Head to the What’s On page for all event dates and times.
