We welcomed new faces as well as old friends, with an added student day and our family screening of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. We were delighted to include some great new speakers to introduce our films, such as Corrina Antrobus from the The Bechdel Test Fest and Melanie Iredale from Sheffield Doc/Fest, alongside festival regulars Tony Sloman and Wolfram Hannemann.
This year we focused on new technologies with our VR demos, which popped up around the museum and transported people to new worlds, as well as celebrating past cinema technology with premieres of new digital restorations of Cinerama’s Russian Adventure and The Golden Head.
And Widescreen Weekend wouldn’t be complete without our amazing guests who came in the form of Bond girl Jenny Hanley and singer and actor Jess Conrad.
A huge thank you to all of our guests and speakers who helped inspire and entertain our audiences. And to our dedicated and passionate delegates, who travelled from around the world to be with us. We’re already looking forward to Widescreen Weekend 2017!
For those of you who missed us this year, here are a few snapshots of this year’s festival…
